Bad-debts Insurance
EFFECTS
Exclusive bad-debts insurance with credit check system for freight forwarding and logistics companies
In a joint development project headed by Aktiv Assekuranz Makler GmbH, FIATA, the insurance company Coface Deutschland (Germany) and Coface Rating GmbH developed a new security line for the coverage of losses on receivables from deliveries and performances carried out in connection with freight forwarding and logistics contracts and including a separately utilizable rating system for checking the creditworthiness and financial standing of business partners (customers).
The insurance policy covers bad-debt losses caused by a customer’s insolvency due to his financial collapse or by the non-payment of any receivables by the customer within the stipulated maximum payment period.
The customer rating facility offers access to a constantly updated information system that permits the reliable assessment and monitoring of the business partner’s (customer’s) solvency and thus his creditworthiness and financial standing before the conclusion of the contract.
The framework agreement is available to all national FIATA member organizations. As a precondition, the use of the new product line requires the conclusion of an identical agreement on the national level by the organizations in question.
The DSLV Deutscher Speditions- und Logistikverband e. V. (German Forwarding and Logistics Association) has already joined this framework agreement. This means that all German member organizations and their member companies can now use both products without restrictions.
FIATA member organizations outside of Germany can primarily draw on the worldwide customer rating system. On a case-by-case basis, insurance coverage of bad-debt losses can be asked for, under the condition of an individual case assessment and a positive rating:
